And the Awards go to...

Caroled for H001

Thanks to you all for choosing my Chanukah card.

Thanks to Janee giving us this great place to meet and share!

As I said in my artist's statement that this is the first time I dared use text as a main element in the design. I really had a lot of fun and found out that my fear was unfounded.

Started with the letters in Hebrew which suggested the placement of the flames. Used Janee's brute force to put some blue gradients in the letters....

Made a flame combination of the shape in one of the letters plus some color taken from a flame from the web... made an outer glow around them. Made a gradient background and slight frame

Shalom and Peace to all for the coming New Year with lots of new challenges and learning experiences!

Elzie for X015

I am honored to be included along side these talented individuals. There were so many great entries that I, personally, had a really difficult time making up my mind when it was time to cast votes. This makes me appreciate even more each one of you who voted for my entry. Thank you.

Joanne Johnson for G001, G014, and X012

Thank you to all who voted for my entries in the Holiday Challenge…I feel humbled by the fact that 3 were chosen! And, each was worked in a different program: Painter, Adobe Illustrator and Bryce and all finished and saved through Photoshop. All done on marginal time (meaning I should have been doing something else!). But, all a whole lot of fun and learning…which gets directly to the heart of the Challenge!

I so much enjoyed looking at and reading about the entries and realizing that it is not an easy thing to put up, for all to see and critique, the work that comes from something so deeply personal and subjective. Congratulations to all who entered for that!

Janee, thank you for doing this, especially when there are life events that might cause others of us to hesitate and withdraw.

With much appreciation,

Joanne

Jorgey for N002

I would like to thank everyone who cast a vote for my New Years image.

The background image of a clock movement is my focal point as it depicts time, added the champagne
glasses representing a toast to the New Year. The clock dial shows the coming hour. And Edward Payson Powell's quote for the reference made to time.  All representing the New Year.

n002For the clock movement and clock dial image, I thank my husband who lets me take pictures of his work/trade.
The glasses taken from a free desktop image site, added a vignette to blend it in to the background and lowered the
opacity on the layer for the clock dial. And the quote taken from the quotegarden.

Justleesa for K004

The big challenge was thinking outside the box. We all live in our little worlds and seldom take the time to see how the rest of the world lives or celebrates. In looking for information on Kwanza I found it to be a very colorful, heart warming tradition. When I found the stamp it was a true inspiration. I'm very happy that you liked my entry and voted for it. Thank you!

Also many thanks to Janee, for all she taught me and continues to teach me, for hosting the forum and Challenge and just for being Janee.

Thank you to my peers and classmates for stimulating my imagination and sharing their talent with me.

Wishing that you all had a happy Kwanza and a Happy New Year!
