Message Board
No registration is necessary to use this web site. Registration is required for posting on the Message Board, however. This board is hosted by me, Janee, on myJanee.com. Therefore, there is no third party managing this, and no other party which could get your email or other information.

The information provided when you register is used to associate you with reviews or posts you write. In the Message Board, under your control panel, you have the option of hiding your e-mail address if you wants to.

Your IP address is maintained by the Administrators and Moderators of the Board, and are not accessible to anyone else. Your IP address will only be used to verify your identity, should a security issue arise.

Cookies
The Message Board employs cookies in order that the Board knows who you are, for purposes of telling you which posts you have seen, enabling you to access the board without having to put in a password each time, and other conveniences. A cookie is a piece of data stored on your hard drive containing information about the user. Usage of a cookie is in no way linked to any personally identifiable information while you are on myJanee.com. Once you close your browser, the cookie goes away. A cookie lets the Message Board "know" it is you, so it can tell you what posts you have seen and not seen. Because of the cookie, you will not have to log in your password more than once, thereby saving time on the site.

If you reject the cookie, you may still use the site, but you can't use the Message Board, unless you accept the cookie. I do not use cookies to track and target the interests of our users. Sheesh! Who would have time for that?

Art Challenge
I require an email address and a nickname (or real name) for entering the Art Challenge. After the voting, your nickname, or the name on the email you send with your entries, will be posted with any entries you have submitted to the Challenge. If you should win an award in the Challenge, you have the option of having your web URL posted on the Awards page. This is up to you, though.

Guest Book
At this writing, the Guest book that I'm using is hosted on another site. This site may use cookies or bots to harvest email addresses, or do with your information in a way that suits them. If you are concerned about this, there are three choices.

• MUNGE your email address. I suggest that you use an X right after the @. So my email address might read janee@xmyjanee.com. This will foil any spambots which are just after email addresses, but it will make it easy for me to tell what your address is.
• You can leave off your email address altogether, if you don't want me to email you back.
• Don't sign this guest book, but .. I hope that you don't choose this option!

Emails to Janee
By sending me an email, you are giving me permission to publish it on this site. I will only publish material which I think will be helpful or inspirational to my site's viewers, or material which I can use in the promotion of the site. I will never use your work with the purpose of denigrating you or your work.

Artwork you send is subject to publishing on this site, with your name or nickname on it. You will retain the copyright for such work. Should you send an image which you are asking me to "fix," I reserve the right to use such material in my gallery or my portfolio. If I wish to use something that you have sent for any other purposes, such as in a book or magazine, I will write to you first.

Log Files
I may use IP addresses to see where people go, administer the site, track hits, and gather broad demographic information for aggregate use. This is, for example, if I decide that I want to find out what percentage of myJanee.com's visitors use Netscape. IP addresses are not linked to personally identifiable information.

Sharing
I may at some point share aggregated demographic information with partners or advertisers. This will not be linked to any personal information that can identify any individual person. At this time, I have no advertisers, so this doesn't apply anyway.

Message Board User Removal
If you are a registered user of the Message Board, and you no longer want to be registered, email me to that effect, and I will remove any of your personal data which has been provided to the site.

Notification of Changes
Any changes in this privacy policy will be announced in the Message Board under Announcements, so the users are always aware of what information I collect, how I use it, and under what circumstances, if any, I disclose it. If, at any point, I decide to use personally identifiable information in a manner different from that stated at the time it was collected, I will notify users by way of an e-mail.
