Travel Tales 2014: Part 2

So Jack looked at me and I looked at him. And.. sure, we’ll go along on the mission trip to Alaska!

Our flight on June 28, 2014 was lovely. I shot these as we flew into Alaska. The third picture is the dorm where we were housed for the week.

Of course, for a mission trip, there was mission work. I was helping with sanding walls and painting them. In the afternoons, we went to a park to serve meals to children and took some time to play. This was us playing Mouse on the Ground.

In June in Alaska, one can go hiking at 11 pm! And go to DQ at 1 am! Our hike started on 6/30 and ended on 7/1.

On June 2, we went with the kids as they took sleds onto the glacier. So pretty, amazing, and scary, too.
Mama moose and her 3 babies! We were on the bus.

On July 4, we took our bus to Whittier, AK, where we served lunch to everyone in the town. Jack grilled burgers, hotdogs, and some beautiful salmon.

To get to Whittier, we had to go through a one-way tunnel. We had to wait for the train to come through first.

Later that day — remember that the days are LONG in Alaska in the summer! — we went to the Wildlife Conservation Center.

On our last day, we hiked to a lake where we lounged and took pics.
This was as close as we came to a sunset… on the plane home.
